Kim Delaney, an American actress, is best known for her character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series, for which she was awarded the Emmy Award. The most notable role she has played is her part in All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives. Delaney was born the sole child of her homemaker mother and senior executive from her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney was a child in the company of four brothers. As a child she was aspired to become an official in the courtroom. However, after graduating from high school, and moving into New York in the 1980s and began to model, she was hooked. In her teens the first time she appeared as an actress came in the 1980 soap opera All My Children. Delaney appeared in a number of TV movies, film and dramas after that. Her career as a professional has been much more lucrative than her personal life. Her personal life has been a mess. She's had two divorces that failed and fought with alcohol addiction. In 2005 she lost the custody of her only son.
